Editor window and shortcuts

Drag a number field in the Inspector to change it, or type a value. Help > Keyboard Shortcuts (Cmd + /) lists every shortcut.

Shift + drag along the ruler to select a range.

Backspace moves every later clip earlier. Fn + Delete leaves an empty space instead, for a shot you have not placed yet. To select everything after a point, use Edit > Select > Clips Ahead on Track.

Clips snap to each other and to the playhead. A trimmed edge can always be dragged back out to the clip’s full length.

Select a clip and open its speed settings in the Inspector: Playback on the Video tab, or Timing on the Audio tab. Set a Rate from 0.01x to 1000x, or set Mode to Curve and choose a Ramp preset so the speed changes across the clip. You can also right-click a clip and choose Speed.

Animation and volume changes stretch with the clip, and its sound speeds up or slows down too. Preserve pitch, under More, keeps voices sounding natural.

Multicam is one scene filmed by two or more cameras. Ask an agent to group the camera files. The editor syncs them by timecode, or by their sound, and you choose which angle shows at each moment.

To show several angles at once, right-click a multicam clip and choose Layout. You can pick side by side, top and bottom, picture-in-picture, a 2×2 grid, main plus sidebar, or three-up. Clip > Ungroup Multicam separates the group again.

• Dead air detection skips recordings longer than 30 minutes.
• You cannot play a clip in reverse, and there is no smoothing for slow motion.
• There is no audio noise reduction. Video noise reduction is available as an effect.
