Scripts and storyboards
Write the script, turn scenes into shots, and check the timing before you make final video.

Start with a script#
- 1Click Script in the sidebar.
- 2In Create Script, choose From Scratch to write it yourself, or AI / Script to start from an idea.
- 3AI / Script opens the box on Home. Pick Idea, Script, Voiceover, Storyboard or Short Film, then describe the video or paste your script.
- 4Read the scenes it makes. Ask VideoDraft Agent to rewrite any part that needs it.
Example brief
A 15-second product promo for a blue ceramic cup. Audience: home coffee drinkers. Three shots: a morning desk, a close-up of the cup and a calm final hero shot. Calm, clear narration. End with one short call to action.- Say what viewers should understand or do at the end.
- Read the narration aloud to judge the length.
- Keep names, product details and pronunciation the same throughout.
Scenes hold shots#
A scene is a part of the story. Its shots are what the viewer sees. When you change one, check the action, framing, dialogue and references still agree.

Make the shot images#
- 1Open the storyboard from Projects, or click Storyboard in the sidebar. A new one asks for a Board name.
- 2Read each shot’s description and attach the character or product references you chose.
- 3Make one shot’s image first with Generate Shot Images to test the look.
- 4When the look is right, click Generate All Shot Images, then Generate All.
- 5Look at all the shots together. If one is wrong, remake just that shot.
Export > Export PDF shares the board, and Export > Download Media saves the images.
Check the timing with an animatic#
An animatic plays the storyboard images in order with sound. It shows whether the story is clear and each shot is the right length, before you pay for final video. It can also be a finished piece on its own.
- 1Click Produce on the storyboard.
- 2In Produce Video, choose Animatic / Story Reel.
- 3Choose With Voiceover or Without Voiceover and set Shot Duration.
- 4Click Produce and watch the result. Adjust shot lengths around the narration.
